One Killed, One Seriously Injured In Chemical Spill At Plant

A Horicon, Wis. man died Monday and his co-worker was injured after the two were overcome by chemical fumes at a plant near Theresa, Wis.

According to reports, 55-year-old Roman Torres was killed and Thomas Persha, 65, was hospitalized. Persha’s wife found the two of the men unconscious at Vivid Imaging, Inc. Monday just after 3:30 p.m.

Officials said the two men had been mixing two or three compounds when they were overcome by chemicals, likely a glue or other adhesive.

The company makes screens for televisions and audio-video equipment. The two men were the only employees at the plant. Persha’s wife called 911 after finding the men. She said she had been trying to reach her husband for hours and decided to go check on him after not hearing back.

An autopsy was scheduled for Torres Tuesday and an investigation into the accident is continuing.
