Worker Killed At Glass Co.

A worker at a glass company was killed in an industrial accident early Christmas day, Portage police said.

Thomas E. Roche, 55, an employee of Cardinal Glass Industries of more than 16 years, was found dead when emergency crews responded to a call at 2:45 a.m. According to officials, he had been working in a remote area of an outdoor yard disposing of large sheets of glass when one of the sheets apparently fell on him.

An autopsy was performed December 27 and preliminary results showed Roche suffered severe multiple internal injuries and no foul play was suspected. The sheets measure 8 feet by 8 feet.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as the company are conducting their own investigations.
