Milwaukee Company Faces $70K After OSHA Inspection

A Milwaukee company faces $70,000 of fines for two willful safety violations allowing employees to perform maintenance on a shredder without first finding the machine’s power and making sure it was off.

Miller Compressing Co. faces the Occupational Safety and Health Administration fines after they allegedly failed to lock out the electrical power source of a 7,000-horsepower shredder while it was being serviced.

A willful violation is defined by one with intentional knowing or voluntary disregard for the law’s requirements, or with indifference to worker safety and health. The company has 15 days to comply with the citations and penalties, request an informal conference or contest the findings. This was OSHA’s third safety violation. In their last inspection, they faced one violation.
