Man Working For WI Company Falls Into River, Dies While Working On Bridge

A Michigan man who was working for a Wisconsin company on an assignment in Florida died this past week when he fell from a railroad bridge he had been working on.

The 42-year-old had been working in Jacksonville, Fla. on a railroad bridge near the Acosta Bridge when he fell and hit his head on some metal before rolling into the St. Johns River. The man had been working for Osmose Railroad Services, a Wisconsin company contracted by the Florida East Coast Railway.

According to some reports, the company had been previously cited for not providing fall protection if the distance from the walking or working surface to the water’s surface is six feet or more after an incident last year. The accident is under investigation.
