MATC Award Grant To Create Services On-Site For Veterans

A new grant awarded to Madison Area Technical College may make it easier for returning veterans to take care of their medical needs and attend college classes at the same time.

According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal , the grant will help MATC build a mini-V.A. at the college. The center will have a full-time social worker, along with psychiatrist, psychologist, additional specialists and a benefits expert who will be around once a week. They also plan on offering a wellness programs  that will include classes like yoga.

Officials are hoping the new center will help the students who need the services by making the help more accessible and helping them figure out what resources they qualify for. In addition, they hope it will make it easier for veterans attempting to get an education continue with their studies while taking care of their medical needs.
