Second Person Dies From Mill Accident Injuries

The second person who was injured in an accident at Packaging Corp of America in Lincoln County July 17 has died.

The 29-year-old Michigan man died last Saturday at a Twin Cities hospital after suffering severe injuries and burns from fly ash.

He and another man from Michigan were working as contractors for an industrial cleaning company based in Michigan when the incident happened. The other man, a 47-year-old from Michigan, died July 17 from the accident.

Three men were killed in 2008 at the plant in another accident, bringing the total of deaths to five deaths in four years for the plant.

Occupational Health and Safety Administration officials are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident and the working conditions.
