OSHA Cites Northeastern Wisconsin Wood Products For 16 Violations

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Northeastern Wisconsin Wood Products for 16 alleged health and safety violations, including four willful and six repeat violations after a follow-up inspection April 25 at its Pound facility. The company is facing fines of $184,800.

OSHA said many of the violations fail to comply with OSHA standards, some dating back to 2006 and many expose workers to amputation hazards.

The company was cited for four willful safety violations including lack of machine guarding on many work instruments, open-sided floors and platforms presenting fall hazards at a greater than 4 foot height.

The company faces three repeat health violations, three repeat safety violations as well as four serious safety violations as well as two other-than-serious safety violations.

The company has been cited with 55 violations as a result of the past six previous inspections. They were placed on OSHAs Severe Enforcement Program in January 2011. The company contested many of those citations, but it became final orders in March 2012. The company was given assistance to abate the violations, but the service ended its work due to a lack of cooperation from the employer.

The y have 15 business days to comply, request an informal meeting or contest the citations and penalties.
