Milwaukee Compensation Lawyers and IAIABC Both Work to Ensure Workers Receive Deserved Benefits

The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) held its annual forum recently, with representatives attending from multiple states and from Canada, Germany, and Australia. The IAIABC, a national non-profit organization that works to:

  • Promote effective worker’s compensation practices
  • Identify ways for companies to improve benefits while reducing costs
  • Provide companies and workers with the most recent research, standards, and information regarding worker’s compensation practices.

The IAIABC holds a forum each year in order for industry stakeholders and administrators to come together to discuss and share successes and challenges of their respective worker’s compensation programs. The hope is that companies can learn from one another in order to put in place or improve current worker compensation guidelines and programs. This year’s forum focused mainly on medical treatment, prescription medicine, and physician standards. Other topics addressed were challenges for independent contractors in affording adequate coverage, return to work issues, and problems faced by telecommuters.

Coming up in June, the IAIABC will hold its Central States Association Spring Seminar in Madison, Wisconsin. This two-day workshop will include presentations on positive worker’s compensation trends, medical data and research, workers’ views on compensation settlements, and new technology in adjudication, such as video hearings. There will also be a roundtable discussion for representatives from the central states, including Wisconsin, to share any recent worker’s compensation issues and methods of addressing those issues.

Even though organizations such as the IAIABC dedicate much time and energy toward improving worker’s compensation practices, not all companies have effective compensation programs in place and not all companies follow legislative or administrative regulations. If you are the employee of such a company and suffer an injury at work, it is important to contact an experienced Milwaukee compensation lawyer to represent you and help you receive fair compensation. Such attorneys understand an injured employee’s right to worker’s compensation and know the legal steps to take to ensure he receives proper benefits.
